With larger TYPO3 installations, the integrated search "indexed_search" reaches its limits relatively quickly. Updating the indexes and the speed of answering search queries becomes a problem once a certain amount of data has been entered.
The additional indexing of external content is also difficult. If, for example, content from a job portal or data from an external application for managing locations and offers is output via TYPO3, two search masks are often used here for different content.
A specialised search engine such as Solr is therefore a convenient solution for indexing all kinds of content. SolR search can also be combined with rms. AI Search, so that SolR merely serves as a data source for the actual search.
